There are three underwater mountains located in front of the town of Llafranc, 20 minutes by boat, northeast of Palamós.
Once we leave the Dive Center Palamós, during the journey we can enjoy the emblematic landscape of the Costa Brava as Cala Margarita, a small nucleus added to Palamós, although with its own identity.
In the Middle Ages this corner was used by the authorities to house travelers in quarantine, so that they could verify that it really was they did not carry any infection that could start an epidemic in the town.
This, like other small coves with their fishermen’s shelters and that seem to be taken from a postcard, make the Costa Brava so characteristic.
We will pass between the famous Formigues Islands and the towns of Calella and Llafranc, which offer us a most summery and Mediterranean image.
We will take advantage of the trip so that the monitors of the Dive Center Palamós , explain the breafings corresponding to the dive and you can review the material again.
Once there we will see the three Ullastres buoys:
Ullastres 1, the closest to land and the shallowest, indicated for initial levels. Its depth reaches 30 meters and its wide base is located at 12 meters, where we can start or end our dive looking for fauna among its cracks.
Ullastres 2, has a gentle descent until reaching 35 – 40 m and its walls are full of life and color, suitable for all levels, it will not leave any diver indifferent.
In the outermost area we will find the Ullastres 3 , the deepest, its bottom is located at 54 mt, it is one of the most requested dives since its walls full of gorgonians attract all kinds of fauna, being able to enjoy a dive full of life.
Because of its profile, the orientation is simple, we will always go down the cape and after a few meters, we will see the base of the anchorage where we will be able to reorganize the pairs or groups.
During the route we will be able to appreciate a great variety of life on the rock and in its many crevices, nudibranchs, octopuses, groupers, some large moray eels ray perched on the sand. In the blue it is common to find large schools of barracudas, groups of dentex, bream and some fleeting sunfish depending on the season and in winter, the San Pedros are also typical.

The instructors, dive masters and assistants at Palamós Dive Center are professionals with extensive experience in diving, a large number of dives on the Costa Brava to their credit and all are certified by the Generalitat de Catalunya. Of proven effectiveness in the theoretical and practical teaching of the different diving courses.
All instructors, and other center staff, have the corresponding qualification issued by the most recognized international diving organization PADI that accredits his ability to teach.
